Sprinkle + Pics

My mom threw me an awesome sprinkle at the Ranch this last weekend. It's like a mini-shower. We just invited our girl relatives to keep it small and manageable, and most people bring diapers, wipes and essentials. I did get some super cute onesies and receiving blankets, too! It was a lot of fun and my mom did a beautiful job. Delicious food and I even allowed myself a small mimosa (Dr said it was OK!) :)

Here's some pics:

Oh and me today, under four weeks left!!!

What a Month!

Oy vey! This has been a looooong six weeks. R had a cold in February and then just when we thought he was starting to get better, something else popped up - which turned out to be pneumonia. Fortunately it was on the mild side (whatever that means for pneumonia, scared the crap out of us) and he's almost recovered. Just some fatigue which is to be expected after being sick for so long.

In any event, not much has been happening here other than taking care of him and me using naptime to try and catch up on my rest. I feel like Baby #2 will be here any day and I'm behind on everything we need to do! Oh well, life has a way of making its own plans I suppose and really, besides a few essentials we don't really need too much.

We do have some fun stuff lined up. A family Legoland trip in a few weeks (we had to postpone due to R being sick), a sprinkle planned for me at the Ranch - just girl family members, everyone brings diapers or wipes, that sort of thing, and next week I get to go on my Palm Springs trip with the girls!!! Yay! So excited.

Here's some pics from the last week:

R beginning to feel better, watching Mickey in the laundry basket.

 Practicing our "surprise faces."

Took R to Santee Lakes yesterday, he played at the playground and we had a picnic snack and fed the ducks.

Whoa. Seven+ months pregnant. I am not sure I can get any bigger!

R Sayings

Some cute things R says nowadays:

- He has a little cash register in his playroom that scans food and a credit card. He calls it his "cabbage rooster."

- When N and he are roughhousing, R will try to run by Neddie and when Neddie grabs him into a bear hug and says "intercepted!", R laughs and says back "DINNERcepted!"

- Our favorite is the way he says "little bit": "Mama, maybe I can go outside to play in a libba-lit."

Christmas Prep

Christmastime has been so much fun this year. It's definitely been a little difficult for me, just low energy, BUT Rutherford is so much more into it this year. He's really beginning to get the idea. We've made Christmas crafts, watched Christmas specials (actually we're both sick with a cold, watching a Curious George Christmas on the sofa this morning together), made some cookies and every day he gets to open his advent calendar with a new fun holiday activity. It's been awesome.

I am pretty much all done with shopping, wrapping and decorating. Now it's time to relax and soak up the holiday fun. With our colds we had to skip out on music class today, but I'm thinking maybe we'll try making some cinnamon ornaments later today. I hope they turn out cute!

Here's some pics of the last week or so:

Ned, R and I made reindeer cookies :)

Checking out the Christmas parade in Alpine. R loved the dump trucks and fire engines that were decked out with lights.

We drove around the neighborhood and found some awesome light displays.

I took Rutherford to the puppet show at Balboa Park. He had a great time. It was such an old-fashioned kind of event. We'll definitely be going back.

R getting a hug from Bogo the orangutan after the puppet show.

After the show, we split a cupcake (peanut butter cup, R picked it out). Rutherford ate the frosting (after I scrapped out about 4/5 of it, don't need no crazy sugar high baby) and I ate the cake. Teamwork.

R LOVES his new workshop that the Houston Grands sent him. He's really into his tools. It's a great addition to the playroom!

Napping

This pic is from a few weeks ago... I woke R up from his nap but he wasn't done. So we snuggled in bed and I got this blessed 15 minute nap with my beautiful angel.

Connect Four

I picked R up a Connect Four set - he loves it! Of course he doesn't really play the game, but he really likes dropping the "coins" into the game. I can see traces of OCD - he likes alternating the colors and gets kinda mad if I "help" and do it wrong. Haha!
